Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026
The short version
- We collect what you give us to run Forkcast: your account details and the spots, lists, reviews, photos and comments you post.
- Your location stays on your device. We use it to center your map and search nearby, but we don't store it.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics tools.
- Your posts are visible to other Forkcast members unless you make your account private.
- You can delete your account, and everything you've posted, from inside the app at any time.
This policy explains how RADICAL16, INC. ("Forkcast", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Forkcast app and this website. If you have questions, email support@radical16.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and password (the password is stored as a secure hash by our authentication provider; we never see it), username, display name, and optional bio and profile photo.
- What you post: spots you save (the place's name, address, map coordinates and city, plus your status, rating, price, cuisine, dishes and notes), lists, reviews (rating, text and up to four photos), comments and likes.
- Connections: who you follow, follow requests, and accounts you block.
- Reports: if you report a post, comment or account, the report and any details you add.
- Support: anything you send when you email us.
Information collected automatically
- Push notification token: if you turn on notifications, a token that lets us send notifications to your device.
- App integrity checks: Apple App Attest and Firebase App Check confirm that requests come from the genuine Forkcast app. They don't identify you.
- Service logs: our servers keep short-lived technical logs (for example, that a notification was sent or failed) to keep the service working.
Information we don't collect
- Your location: Forkcast uses your device's location, with your permission, to center the map and find food spots near you. It is used on your device and in Apple Maps searches, and is not stored on our servers.
- Photo metadata: before a photo is uploaded, the app re-encodes it, which removes embedded data such as where it was taken.
- Advertising identifiers, contacts or browsing history.
How we use information
- To provide Forkcast: your map, lists, profile, reviews, feed, city search and comments.
- To connect you with people you follow and show their activity, as their privacy settings allow.
- To send notifications you've allowed, such as new followers, follow requests, likes, comments, and friends reviewing places you've saved.
- To keep Forkcast safe: filtering offensive language, reviewing reports, removing content and suspending accounts that break our Terms of Use.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it.
Who can see what you post
- Profile: your username, display name, bio and profile photo are visible to anyone signed in to Forkcast, so people can find you.
- Public accounts (the default): your spots, lists, reviews, likes and comments are visible to other signed-in Forkcast members.
- Private accounts: your spots, lists and reviews are visible only to followers you approve. You can turn this on in the app under You → Edit profile.
- Blocking: people you block can't see your spots or lists, follow you, or interact with your posts.
- Moderators: Forkcast moderators can view any content, including private accounts', to review reports and enforce our Terms.
- Sharing: if you share a spot or list using your phone's share sheet, what you share is sent to whoever you choose.
AI suggestions (Google Gemini)
When you tap Ask Gemini in city search, Forkcast sends Google's Gemini service the city you searched and a short summary of your taste: your most-saved cuisines, the names of a few favorite places, your usual price level, and the names of places you and people you follow already saved in that city (so Gemini doesn't repeat them). We don't send your name, email or account details. The request is processed by Google under its Gemini API terms. Suggestions are then checked against Apple Maps. This only happens when you ask.
Service providers
We use these providers to run Forkcast. They process information on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, App Check, Hosting) | Accounts, storing your posts and photos, notifications, app integrity checks, and this website. Data is stored in the United States. |
| Google Gemini (through Firebase AI Logic) | AI place suggestions, only when you ask (see above). |
| Apple (Apple Maps, Apple Push Notification service, App Attest) | Maps, place search, delivering notifications, app integrity checks. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information).
How long we keep information
- We keep your account and posts until you delete them or your account.
- When you delete your account (You → Account → Delete account), we delete your profile, profile photo, spots, lists, reviews and review photos, comments, likes, follows, block list, notifications and notification tokens from our active systems. Deleting a post also deletes the likes and comments on it.
- Reports you filed, and records of moderation actions, may be kept so we can enforce our Terms and prevent abuse.
- Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: view and edit your profile and posts in the app.
- Delete: delete individual posts, or your whole account, in the app.
- Privacy: make your account private, remove followers by blocking them, or block anyone.
- Notifications and location: turn them on or off at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Forkcast.
- Copy of your data, and other requests: email support@radical16.com. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your information, or to object to or restrict its use. We'll respond within the time required by law and won't discriminate against you for using these rights.
Security
Forkcast uses encryption in transit, server-side security rules that limit who can read and change each piece of data, and app integrity checks. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.
Children
Forkcast is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
International users
Forkcast is operated from the United States, and your information is stored there. By using Forkcast you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app.
